This one was hunting. There was a big red ant bed about twenty feet away....... just waiting for the next meal to walk by.

These images are wonderful, Donna. I haven't seen one of these little critters in years. The lighting and texture of her skin is just perfect!
This is the first one I've seen this year.
They are so ferocious and exotic looking and you've done the Horned Toad proud with your pictures. (They really are sweethearts. Just rub their bellies and they'll sleep in your hands.)
I bet that's the reason they are endangered...they were picked up by every kid who saw them.
