Black-Crowned Night Herons







There have been 20 to 30 of them in the water standing at the end of a cotton field.

I'm always amazed at the number of waterfowl in the plains area. You think of it being flat and dry except for irrigation, but like Bitter Lakes in NM there is such a variety.

How thrilling! I've never in my life seen birds like this. Love the blue (even though they are called black, it looks blue) feathers and the red eyes.

You've taken some great shots of these. It was fun to see them in all their different poses.

The water fowl are the result of all the rain we have had. I have never seen birds like this around Lubbock.
